Ángel began to practice football according to his physician’s recommendation who advised the boy’s parents to let him go for sports in order to give way for his bursting energy. Already when 7 years old, he started training in the local club’s sports academy, but when 13 years old, he joined another club – Rosario Central. At the age of 17 the player joined the team’s main squad and made his debut. In a couple of years the player had keen interest from great European football clubs. Ángel almost signed a contract with the Russian Rubin, but at the last moment the deal was withdrawn. As a result the player joined SL Benfica at a modest price of 6 million euros.
In 2008, di María became Olympic champion playing for the Argentina national team. The Olympics were his time to shine as he scored the winning goal in the final. In 2010, the player became one of the famous footballers bought by Real Madrid. The Madrid club owners paid 30 million euros for his transfer.
Playing for Real Madrid Ángel’s displays have always been fascinating as he was scoring goals and making important assists all the time. During two seasons he played 50 matches for the club after which he asked the club’s management to reconsider his acting contract. Last year, in December, he applied to the club owners for another raise in salary.
During his career Ángel has played in more than 230 matches of different levels, starting from the second tier league of Argentinean championship to the Olympic Games. Over this time he managed to score 35 goals and make 35 assists. Many of his goals were key ones: they were either winning goals for his team or the ones scored in the crucial moments, which cost the opponents their victories.Angel currently plays for Manchester United in England.
